I've had a 40% nitrox fill in a tank (aluminum 80) @ 3000 psi since this past June. Was it a bad thing to leave it full for that long at that high % 02 (would it have caused cororrison)? Is it still ok to use now?

Thanks

I'd dump the air. It's just a few bucks. Also, check the vis sticker, if the tank is close to its inspection date (or its five-year hydro), do it. Why risk it...

Check the PSI before you dive it next (for bleed-off). In HIGH O2 situations, i heard something about some tanks "absorbing" the oxygen out of those mixes.

To be safe, take your tank into your LDS and have them put an O2 analyzer on it. (this should cost nothing or next to it). But i think you're fine. Just don't want to plan a dive with EAN40 NDLs and have 30.....

Corrosion shouldn't be a problem, as the pressure kept all the moisture out.

Re-analyze it before diving it as an EAN 40 mix. Other than that, no worries. If it were a year old, I might consider dumping it.

Provided there was no moisture in your tank it should be fine, but I'd just go ahead and dump the air anyways. Since you got the tank filled last June, logic would dictate that your tank is due for a new VIP within the next few months. If you're not a broke college student, I'd just go ahead and pay for this year's VIP on the tank so someone qualified can take a look at it and tell you if it's damaged. If you do take it in for a VIP, please post the results, as I'd like to know what effect (if any) there was on your tank. It could be a good learning experience for all.

Analyze it and if it's near what you thought it to be, use it. The moisture content should have been nearly non-existant when it was filled, so that should not be a worry. I have never seen Air or Nitrox "go bad" in an aluminum tank yet. Steel on the other hand, if dirty and allowed to get moisture in them, have shown to be problematic in some cases. So don't sweat over it, and go get wet!

I really doubt if a tank can absorb oxygen. Like the others have said, analyze the mix and if it's ok, then dive it. Sitting around since June is not a big deal. Why waste a good 40 mix?

just analyze the air to make sure its still 40% if not then id bleed it out. you should be fine though.
