Nitrox before OW?

Is it possible to take a Nitrox class concurrently with OW referral?
My grown daughter is taking OW class and pool sessions here just after Christmas. We plan to go to Bonaire early March for her to do the OW final certification dives. It would be nice if she could get Nitrox tanks as Buddy's has free upgrades and I would like to dive Nitrox, a nd Buddy's Nitrox certification price is double what it would cost here. Since no actual diving is required for Nitrox, can a person get certified by taking the course without diving? Thanks you.

I know at least one place that does OW and adds the nitrox specialty. I had required dives when I took nitrox, so she may be required to do those with the referral as well, probably for additional cost. Check with your LDS, they might be able to include the training.

Yes, to an extent. But, what you are thinking of may not work (get the certification at home at a lower price before she goes to Bonaire to finish OW at Buddy's).

Yes. But, the card can be issued only after completion of OW. The worst case - she pays a little more to do nitrox at Buddy's (but, their $175 does include 2 dives), you both have free nitrox upgrades still have a great time diving for a week in Bonaire. PADI does allow OW dive 4 to be enriched air, and combined with the nitrox specialty. Since there may be a difference between what PADI allows and what Buddy's will do (no criticism of Buddy's, just a statement of what may be the case), you might contact Buddy's directly and ask them what kind of package they can put together to minimize the combined cost of the referral and nitrox when done together.

IANTD does OW certification with nitrox. Probably a couple others (ANDI?)
