I think the biggest disadvantage of He is cost.

Now if you can go on a surface supplied system with He recovery then that gets much cheaper.
I know that most commercial diving operations are going to He recovery systems to save money. The money saved on He pays for the equipment pretty quickly.

With SCUBA the cost of He could add up.

someone said here once, that cost can not be a factor in safe diving. they said it to me as I was giving a reason for something.

I thought abpout it and believe it.

so other than cost and keeping with scuba what do you think

Cost is always a factor.

Even with NASA and spaceflight cost is a factor, how could it not be a factor in diving?

What happens is there is some other emergency that requires surfacing the diver while he is still breathing He? The onset of DCS will be faster and the progression faster than with just N2.

I don't know what is the best answer.
