Frontier Airlines, previous to today - my favorite hometown (Denver) airline, is now making me furious!

They are apparently canceling their Wed flights into and out of Cozumel. At least that's my understanding at this point. They called to tell my wife that the flights that we booked and RECEIVED CONFIRMATION ON, are now not running.

Their option to us? "We are happy to provide a refund"

What? Refund? Not good enough.

Ironically, when I called the 1-800 number to find out what's going on, the pre-recorded message states "please note... cancellations to your itinerary may result in a $100 fee plus any increase in fares".

At this point I'm thinking... "fine. If you cancel on me, then, wouldn't you owe me $100 plus any increase in fare that I incur rebooking flights on a different airline?" Seems fair to me.

So much for a direct flight from Denver to Coz. :mooner:

Hang in there and don't take no for an answer! The squeeky wheel gets greased, so hound them until you get satisfaction with alternate travel plans! Good luck.

That's the plan. So far, it looks like we are looking at $250 increased cost to keep similar flights at similar times (albeit with 1 stop rather than nonstop flights). :11:

Was Wednesday the only day of the week that they flew from Denver to Cozumel, or do you just have to switch days?

Gordon - I think they only did Wed and Sat flights from April 15th through the Summer. Prior to the 15, I think they do daily flights. So if I were to stay on Frontier now, I'd have to switch the trip to Sat-Sat vs. Wed-Wed.

To complicate things, however, I have a mtg in Cancun that finishes on a Wed, so that's why Wed-Wed works so well. Furthermore, our babysitter (grandma) flies into Denver Tues night to take care of the kids, so changing to Sat-Sat screws up that deal, too!

Arrrrrgh. I hope there's enough Pacifico in my fridge to solve this problem!

(here's their flight sched from their website - when we booked, they had the Wed flights from 4/15 through 6/23rd - now that Wed flight is gone)

H2ODoc-------I fly in and out of Denver as well and this seriously stinks!!....a few questions (since I was in the travel business before the dive business)............what are your dates?.....and where do you get this $250 increase info--are they sending you on another airline?.......or are you just looking up your alternatives?........FYI----that stuff about the increase and the $100 is if YOU cancel or make a change but I love the idea that they should pay you......(good luck with that........hahhaa)........you seriously need to talk to a supervisor and hopefully not one in India who you won't be able to understand to save your life.........I don't know how Frontier works but many airlines farm you out if there is a problem to another one. YOUR problem would be that there are no other direct flights from Denver, but if they farm you to, let's say, American......you WOULD have a stop but they should not be charging you the difference since it is their fault.....and AA goes right into CZM. (I have a bad feeling, though, that Frontier is not exactly "buds" with any other airline that flies out of DIA.....)

The other thing I was thinking is (depending on your dates which I don't know).......it may turn out to be cheaper to take the $$ and run and rebook on worryfree which is running sales right now as low as $129 pp plus tax..........the downside is that they go to CUN but the upside is that they DO go on Wednesdays.......if you want some more ideas. pm me and I will give you my phone number------I am in CO right now and I am a wizard at finding the best way to go back and forth for cheap....after 20 years, I should be!........I hope I can help you.........Betsy

Not sure of your dates, but Continental is running 250 [+ $100 in fees] Denver to Cozumel. Check it out. They beat frontier's rate significantly when i was shopping.

This is really bad. Especially when coming from the west coast, you could avoid a redeye flight by using this option (which is what we did two weeks ago). Not anymore..

They ran the flight Wednesday, Sat, Sun.

I guess the other alternative would be if they would route you to Cancun. Granted you would to take the ferry, but it would keep you on a direct flight with no changeover.

Sad to hear. I've been trying to get a reasonable fare (DEN-CZM) in June for the past month. I've been looking at the June 14 Frontier departure and the Plane is only 1/3rd full. You suppose I can use any miles to get a seat -- NOOOO!. You suppose the fare has been much lower than $500? NOOO! Could a team of Chimpanzees on crack manage that airline any better? Possibly! And by the way, if you book with WorryFree to Cancun instead, guess which regularly scheduled airline you'll be on. Yup, Frontier.

Got a link to that fare? The best Sat-Sat I can find is $582 (fees included). Thanks!
