MissTwisties:
We also ride sportbikes, anyone here rides motorcycles as well?

Wait, are you saying there are other hobbies besides diving?!!?!?! :D

Welcome to the all consuming obsession.... er.... I mean sport of diving!

countryboy:
Welcome!

Uh, I only see squids in the ocean??

LOL...I was wondering if someone would pick on it... ;)

"Squids" in the motorcycle world are those who ride motorcycles without any regards for their own safety and the safety of other motorists on the road...ex: riding without proper gear (wearing shorts, tank, sandals, no helmet) and/or riding at insane speeds, etc. ;)

The nice thing about diving is I guess you can go under water skin diving or wearing a suit, both are ok...lol :D

Diving is a nasty habit that will consume you. unfortunately it's to late for me. So you must try to save yourself. First it's just on weekends with a few friends. Then you find yourself doing it at night. Then when you find some good stuff (Lobsters) you keep it to yourself and make your friend's swear not to give up your stash. Then you find yourself weighing the options. Go diving or stay for my kid's birthday party. then it get's real bad. You start calling in sick to work to do it. When your boss find's out you could loss your job. Then you start reading the Help wanted section for jobs that include it or even require you to do it. That way when you leave you anniversary dinner with you spouse you can say. "It's work" and not feel guilty. So again I am just trying to warn you of what lies ahead. Dont feel bad for me I have done this to myself

Ok if this is what you want then welcome aboard.

Seriously there is some great info on areas to dive, Advice, and equipment on this forum. Dont be afraid to ask a question, Even if it seem's silly.

Good luck

Welcome to you and your husband. It's a great sport and New England is loaded with oportunities to dive.

As you read posts outside the New England forum be sure to consider the source. The right gear for a tropical diver may not be your best selection for instance.

If you venture to southern Maine sometime this summer Give us a shout.

Well, there is a shadow on the horizon it seems... :( When we went Friday night for the trial class, after spending nearly 2 hours in the pool, we got out of there and went home. hubby complained of water in his ears, and thinking it would resolve itself soon. The day after (Saturday), he told me he still had water in his ears, one more than the other, and that he could not hear too well from that ear. He spent the weekend being like that. On Monday morning, he woke up, complaining of sharp pain in his ears, and not hearing anything from the right ear. So I called the doc and got him an apointment in the same day. They told him he had SEVERE ear infections in BOTH ears. He is now on 2 different antibiotics (ear drops and pills) since Monday, and altho it hurt less, the pain is still there.

We're not sure what caused it, if it's water in his ears from the pool or something else. He said he had a few ear infections when he was a little boy, so that was very long ago...LOL He's worried this might be causing problems if he want to dive... :(

get some ear cleaning stuff from CVS...swimear I think its called...and use it after every dive...and you should be all set...
