Manufacturers recommend a torque setting for a reason. Your tank is HIGH PRESSURE vessel. Torque the valve to specs.
Given the size of the valve you will likely require a crow's foot. Banging the valve to "seat" the valve is a good way to bend something (I know, I've bent two valves doing this).
If you're not going to do it properly, then give it to a reliable shop who will do it properly.
