Well I took the plunge and finally bought some regulators for Christmas to go with the Dive Rite TransPac I bought in the fall. I am now equipped with the ScubaPro Mk-25 first stage, and the ScubaPro S-550 second stage. My backup is the Air-2, also by ScubaPro.

Anyone else have this setup, and able to give me some advice on keeping it in tip top shape? My LDS keeps the allen wrench used to adjust the intermediate pressure from the Mk-25; he says it should only be adjusted by someone "who knows what he is doing". Guess that ain't me.

Congrats on your new toys - they're more than adequate for almost any kind of diving out there, certainly for anything recreational. As far as maintaining them goes: read, understand and follow the instructions. Basically, keep them clean and serviced. Don't let water get inside the first stage or the hoses. Your LDS was correct, don't try to service them yourself. Remember, this is life support gear and until you get the training and experience, the life you're monkeying with is your own. If your warranty cards don't show up in short order, start harrassing SP and your local dive shop. Keep your receipts.

Enjoy!

You need a guage to measure intermediate pressure. That's why you can't do it yourself. The advantage of your Mk25 over my Mk20's is that you can adjust it with an allen wrench, no shims needed. I plan on getting mine converted to Mk25's as soon as I can catch my tech at the dive shop and get the parts.

You should be very, very happy with your regs. Congrats on a fine purchase.:doctor:
