Hello All
I held off posting directly, because I respect the non-commercial nature of this board. However my reply to Soggy is not accurately being reflected in the resulting posts
This is the response I gave him when he asked about nitrox.
"At this time, no Nitrox, in fact we are still waiting on a new Mako
Compressor to be shipped. A temporary compressor should be in place next
week. As far as a full nitrox system is concerned, we are not ruling it
out. In the spring, regardless of whether we start pumping nitrox, I will
probably add the extra filtration needed for hyper air. We are doing
free air fills with a limit of two tanks per person.
PG Dive has been a scuba instruction company for a few years and our focus
will continue to be on training divers at all recreational levels. Unlike
a lot of other stores, the gear is secondary to the training. While we
believe that every diver should own his own equipment, we do not require
students to buy anything.
We run a few warm water group trips a year and put together a lot of local
diving activities in the summer.
Right now we are selling mostly masks, fins, snorkel, warm water suits,
lights and bags. We will be bringing in items like BC's and computers
and drysuits after the new year.
When it comes to the more technical gear, we will probably never stock it.
I don't have a bias against technical diving (I am Trimix and Cave
certified) It's just not the direction that we've chosen. If people are
looking for something in particular and they can't find it in stock
elsewhere, then I would be happy to order it and sell it to you at "internet
prices".
As anyone knows, who has had any dealing with myself or my wife at any of
the other local shops where we have worked PG Dive will be a very relaxed,
no attitude, no high pressure sales environment. Our prices will be as low
as the manufacturers allow them to be. We are not necessarily going to be
everything to every diver, but the things that we do, will be done right and
we will follow through on anything that we promise."
I guess the point I'm trying to get across is that we absolutely do sell gear. Currently we are dealers for Atomic, Oceanic, Bare, Sea and Sea, Cressi Sub, Stahl Sac and we will be adding others lines, including a dry suit company after the new year. However instruction is going to continue be our "Core competency" and our focus
