Well one can definately tell that his Avatar was shot with a.... Canon!

Ok, joke, joke!

I'll leave the N vs. C debate for those that enjoy flames on the sites like DPReview...

Diver Dennis:

Well this poster is on the right track in comparing individual models side by side. In this case, some reasons I'd choose the D80 over the Rebel include the 2.5" LCD, 11 point AF system (vs. 7), more pixels, and a sensor and layout that is already tested in the D200.

The D80 looks like a great camera even if it has no CF card support (IMO mistake).

What people always seem to miss when comparing N to C is that you can't do that, you must compare one model against another. The first Digital Rebel's were so dumbed down it was sad. Canon users can thank Nikon who came out with the feature rich D70 that resulted in Canon ending the madness, and giving users some features that it could have provided in FIRMWARE in the first place!

The new Canon 400D will be the answer to the D80. I'd expect a response to the D200 from Canon, but maybe they feel their midline is strong enough with the 5D which is a heck of a body even if it costs a bit more than the D200.

I do agree with the 350D comparison Ron. There really is none. As you pointed out, it will be the new 400D that will be the comparison. I really have no hatred of Nikon. It'd just fun to joke around a bit...:D

Don't worry Jam. These Nikrap guys will get theirs...

So was the OP's question ever answered?

Judging by the buzz the D80 will be a very very popular camera, wonderful value for the money..

So I think you'd probably see the majority of the underwater housing manufacturers have housings out within a few months..

Ikelite, Sea & sea, fantasea? and all the rest..

I gave him a *guess* based on the D200 timeframes which was 3 month *maybe* (Ikelite/Sea&Sea) and more like 6 months before the housing is in stock. Having Ike announce and release a housing, and actually getting one are two different things. I'd make the same recommendation I did for the D80 body. Contact Ryan at Reef, or whom every your favorite High end housing retailer is, and preorder the thing if you want it in your hands ASAP.

I'm not sure where the housing manufactures stand in the pecking order for pre-production bodies, but it's very unlikely they got their hands on a body any eariler than Phil (DPReview). He received a body to test and review at the beginning of Aug.
