He described that the felt like a slightly stiffer Dive Rite XTs with a bit more snap. He was using the Dive Rite XTs before and liked them.

Well, then…I don’t care what they look like! That’s tantalizing insight.

So ankle weights are one of the seven deadly sins, but metal lugs inserted into fin blades are kosher. Got it.
I once made weighted drysuit socks, mostly for the entertainment value, but they were definitely not DIR approved. I’d love to hear the real justification as to why adding weight to fins is fine, but weight on your ankles is bad. Where’s the dividing line? Would metal plates in the bottom of my jetfin pockets be ok?

$400 for fins?
WTF!
That was my first reaction when I saw that myself but when I thought about what a set of slipstreams and jet fins combined cost it doesn’t seem so hateful and you can take one set of fins when you travel if you’re diving wet and dry which I do pretty commonly. Wet in the ocean and dry in the caves for Mexico for instance

I think the idea here is that a lot of people buy multiple sets of fins to use with a wetsuit and drysuit. Two decent fin sets would probably cost you $400 in total. So now you only have one set of fins that can do both…

While the design looks cool, I do find the removable weights a little gimmicky.

The more I dive, the more I realize that a nice set of neutral fins can easily be dived in a wetsuit and drysuit and I have no need to switch between heavy and light fins. I use the same fins for cave diving, boat diving, shore diving, drysuit, wetsuit, no suit.
