This guy is a money sponge, he just sucks it up. If he was really serious about stopping whaling, he'd use that money as bribes to japanese politidians and fisherman. He just wants his grand adventure funded.

They will probably get lots of visits from their supporters , but using this opportunity to give voice to an opposing view (civilly and thoughtfuly) while it might not change anything they do in a substantial way, more contact with people and points of view is good

I agree 100% with you D_B, altough I doubt it will stay civil and toughtfull very long. The two views are too far apart and visceral for that. It's worth a try though, too bad Florida is that far away...
