For beginners, I'd recommend a dry type snorkel, as most aren't very familiar to the clearing techniques. However, dry snorkels do become wet at 10-15', and you will need to learn to clear it. Also, make sure you get a valve that can stick a finger into to close off. In many dry snorkels, residual water can get in the tube and won't clear out the purge with a hard blow. Sticking your finger in the valve and blowing will clear it.
