I'm headed to Coz Jan 9-16 with my wife and another couple. We want to go out for our anniversary, and are looking for a place off the beaten path (so to speak). Criteria: Excellent food, great atmosphere, no real expensive. Island food...I dont need steak, although a seafood dish would be nice. Any suggestions?

Staying at Caribe Blu & diving with Blue Angel...cant hardly wait!

ahhhh

blanking

courtyard, white lights, Guidos? great wine...geat atmosphere, I might have the name wrong.

the best

christy knows.

she raves about "le chef" ??? seared ahi and such....

Guidos is high on the list, but maybe something different. I went to a place a couple blocks off the waterline that you enter from the front, walk through the indoor seating area to a courtyard. Great seafood platter! Cant for the life of me remember where it was or the name of the place. Just a couple blocks at the most from the Yukatech shop.

We have eaten La Perlita's several times. It's on 65 bis (half) I think by Calle 10. I drove by it three times last week and I can't remember the street. There is a fish market next door. Excellent fresh seafood and the prices are very reasonable. Nice atmosphere. Old floats, pictures of divers from the 70's run by good people.

Try La Lobsteria, off the beaten path, great food, good prices, nice courtyard that can be romantic. IMHO, the best lobster in Cozumel. We have eaten there several times and always have had a great quiet dinner.

La Pearlitas and La Veranda are both nice choices
We also really enjoy El Morro ............. way off the beaten path.
Say hello to Ray if you go

I would second La Veranda for tropical garden area seating, excellent plate presentations, top notch service. It's on Calle 4 about 2 and a half blocks inland from the waterfront road on your right. The shrimp dish prepared tableside was mouthwatering as was the banannas flambe prepared tableside too..... I can taste them now...

La Veranda - haven't eaten there but it is jaw-dropping gorgeous and totally romantic atmosphere. We intend to eat there on our trip in January, too.

Also check out Casa Mission - it it gorgeous.

We'll see you at Caribe Blu - we're there over your dates too...I'll be the crazy lady herding cats as I prepare for my wedding on the 11th!

anybody ever make a fuss about those animals?

just curious.

Does Mexico have a PETA chapter?

hope to see pictures....
