OkieDiver once bubbled...
I could have sworn some poor diver was asking for some help hooking up a piece of equipment and we now have 5 pages of "mine is bigger". What a bunch of CRAP!!!

Okay, I waited two days to say something, but now I can't stand it anymore! Does anyone else see the irony of this post???

Also, Detroit, where have you been? Oh, that's right, Wednesday is the night the DIR guys meet in the woods and drink Cat's blood!

:D:D:D:D:D

First of all, it's Wednesday, Scott! Secondly, it's goat blood. We eat the whole cat.

Thirdly, the crap comment was too easy-that's why it was probably ignored!

You're quick at the switch, Detoit. I'll give you that. I wasn't even penalized, replaced the "Thursday" with the "Wednesday" before the "edited" notice came up. Damn, it feels like it should be later in the week.

By the way, lived in St. Clair Shores during graduate school. Off of 11 mile road.

You didn't like winter, I presume!! Tampa's a bit warmer-most of the year.

Where did you do grad school?

After leaving the warm confines of the University of Florida, I went to Detroit College of Law, which has since become the law school of Michigan State University.

Went there because because my wife's family is from the Detroit area, and we (she) wanted to be close to them. I actually had a great time in Detroit, and met a lot of good people.

Now you've really ruined it for me. Anyone who might have agreed with me to this point just wants to "kill the lawyer." :D

Was something read into my post that I missed?

["Thirdly, the crap comment was too easy-that's why it was probably ignored!"]

This thread started out with someone asking for some help and then deteriorated to whether the piece of equipment was junk or not. I don't think I read anything about him/her asking anyone's opinion about the piece of equipment, just some help on hooking it up. The "CRAP" comment was about the bs posts, NOT an editorial about the AIR II.

What did I miss??

I don't think you missed anything. I think Scott's comment (I could be wrong) had to do with the fact that I used the word crap initially, and some people took offense to it. Then you used it to describe what you think happened after that, using the word crap again.

As Dennis Miller says: Then again, I could be wrong.

I'll have a great lawyer joke for you tomorrow when I get back into the office!

Lucky us...

There are TWO actual problems with the Air2:

1) It IS hard to share (but I always share my primary anyhow).
2) If you must disconnect the hose, you've lost power BC inflation, as well as the backup reg.

However, for some of us, there are advantages that outweigh these:

1) They ARE less bulky to pack (we always carry-on our regs)
2) There is one less hose to deal with in the water
3) You ALWAYS know where the backup reg is
4) You are USED to handling the backup reg
5) The backup reg is less often in an inaccessible position
6) They are reliable, at any reasonable depth (I?ve used mine at 160+, but that is another discussion)

My wife and I bought Air2's the month they came out. We have used them all over the world. We are STILL using the original units (gee, they might be ?18 years old now??).

I believe that the major factor in why they are so often maligned is simply that they are not, and never will be, COOL.
