I want to do some diving on a Thursday and Friday. I don't know any ops for Lake Michigan and the search i've done is helping much. Can someone please recommend an op for me, particularly one that dives during the week (if there is such a thing). By the way I'm looking to leave the docks on the Michigan side of the lake.

try recntech I just tried there website and couldnt get it to work he goes through the week as long as he has enough people he leave out of port sanilac

That's funny, I tried looking for charters the other day- I called a few shops and it's like I was speaking a different langauge. I got a few numbers... for fishing charters.

I was told that the lake was too cold to dive most of the year and that lots of people had their own boats, so charters aren't as common as other places.

To be fair, I did talk to two real scuba charter captains- one didn't have anything running at a convenient time and the other didn't have his boat in the water.

Great Lakes shipwreck diving is definately world-class. The problem is that it is difficult to get on a boat as an individual diver on a weekday. Most of our charter customers are local people who do most of their diving on weekends. We do go out on weekdays, but it is almost always for a number of divers who charter as a group. That said, we are in the water and diving now - but on the West shore of Lake Michigan out of Waukegan, Illinois.

I also will probably be visiting Holland, Mich. the last week of June. If it is possible to get a dive in that would be great. What is the water temp and is there anything around?

Advanced Scuba is now doing charters out of West Michigan. Tim is the owner/captain and will do charters out of Saugatuck, Holland, Grand Haven, Muskegon or most anywhere you'd want. His number is 616-836-9640. He's an instructor and Tri-Mix diver so he can do tech trips as well. PM if you'd like and I can have him give you a call.

End of June will probably have surface temps in the high 50's and bottom temps in the 40's depending on depth. As far as atractions, check out http://www.michiganshipwrecks.org/diving.htm
