Wow, this is further out in left field than usual for this board, since what you're claiming is that only someone who believes that that a BP&W is not any good for recreational diving should mentor someone who wanted to learn to dive a BP&W recreationally.

The illogic of this position aside (perhaps you were merely bad at stating your point, if so, please feel free to reword), why don't you think a BP&W is good for recreational diving, because there's a whole slew of BP&W-diving recreational divers out there that would disagree with you on this point.

Huh? Stairman's claiming that BP/W's are no good for recreational diving, and Jeff's saying that since he believes that, he'd be a lousy mentor for somebody who wants to dive one recreationally. Makes sense to me.

Try reading again. In order.

As someone stated above, "Dude, it's just a BC"

Roak

He was responding to stairman by saying that "no, they are not technical". He actually agrees with the rest of us who know that BP/W are just BCs. Superior BCs of course, but still just a BC :D.

What they said.

Go see Rob at Flatirons. He's an excellent instructor and can give you all the info you need to get you moving in the direction you desire. They also schedule a lot of opportunities for wreck and reef diving in a multitude of destinations. I've never been to Rob's shop, but I have shared a boat with him several times in the Great Lakes.

Thanks for the Replies, I'll check out the Denver shop. Bear in mind, everything that you are familiar with is ' just a ....' when you've been doing it long enough. I could say, 'It's just a 5.9 m4' to someone asking about climbing but that's not particularly illuminating.

Wow, how did so many people get to our little forum :)
Definitely would recommend talking to some of the shops in your area that were already mentioned. There are quite a few of us that dive with BP&Ws in Santa Rosa, NM, if you ever make it down this way.

What kind of diving do you have down there? I make it to NM from time to time, it isn't all that far from me all things considered.

We usually dive at the Blue Hole in Santa Rosa. Alot of dive shops in CO bring their classes there to train. We generally have people come from NM, CO, and sometimes TX. Usually it is organized here, so watch this forum, but generally we go out on the third weekend of each month.
