It is great that it was your wife's idea. I had a females student once that really did not belong in the water. She could not swim not even 25 yards nor float. I spoke with the husband who i knew and asked what was going on and he fessed up that he put pressure on her. I asked him to take a rescue course to help his new buddy if he could find someone to certify her. I would not until she could swim. She was extremely uncomfortable in the pool. So, great that you have a willing spouse. Wonderful.

I'm so sorry. I "made" my wife take Scuba lessons -- what a HUGE mistake. Now we own a boat, 4 sets of doubles, 4 singles, 2 deco bottles.........

Buying gear for one person is bad enough!

If my wife ever asks for a set of doubles I'll eat my fins! :D

I wanted my wife to learn to dive just so we could be together for an hour without her talking, she couldn't do and swallowed a lot of water.:D;) Enjoy your new dive buddy congrats.

Was at LDS buying gear for daughter who's getting certified and as sizing BC, wife asked to try the BC as she wanted to start diving with me. My jaw dropped. My wife's been a warm water diver and never expressed an interest to dive up here in New England.. Big milestone for me..

My daughter got certified last semester. We wish mom would take the plunge, too. But I'll have a better chance of holding my breath for a year.:D
Congrats and lots of great diving.

But you have to admit that it's easier when you're both pulling the purse strings in the same direction.

Easier, yes, but if only the purse strings were long enough to cover both our needs!

Exactly!

Also, now if we go on a tropical vacation I won't have to spend as much on chocolate, flower and jewelry bribes to convince her to let me go diving without her so that may offset some of the financial losses! :D

But mainly it will just be more fun if we can share it.

Congrats! I'm envious of divers who have a spouse as their dive buddy. I might give up solo diving.

Of course I hope my wife already knows how to dive... or at least will by the time I actually meet her!
