Green_Manelishi:
My buddy's puter tracked a very dramatic drop in temp at the thermocline. If memory is correct it was quite a bit more than a 10degree shift in less than 1 ft.

I'd have guessed more like a 15 degree shift... What I meant to imply was that the temperature stays pretty constant below the thermalcline, despite the changing surface temp.

I suppose I have verified this somewhat... Its pretty darn cold below the thermalcline early in the spring and it's still pretty darn cold below the thermalcline the middle of the summer, but the depth at which I encountered it moved during that time from 30 ft to 20 ft. I've never been in the fall, so I don't know how it is right now....

I didn't bother to check your location before posting but Sunday AM I will be doing a dive either at Brant Rock, Egypt Beach or Cape Ann. My Dive buddy is in Vegas for the week so if you want to get together let me know. I am meeting up with Chebby tomorrow AM for a little dive before work, but I want to get all in I can before the wet suit gets hung up for the season. Gonna do that sub next year, then it's on to the U-550, just gotta find it first.

wow, i wish i was older and can just dive whenever i want to...its hard when youre 15 with no money or transportation...ohhhhh well just something to look forward to ;-)

Thank you for confirming that it is a deeper-than-90ft-dive.

Jeeze people... relax... I said you -CAN- do the dive at 90fsw not that you would want to... I stated the average depth.. whatever, you people need a time out or something....

Mea culpa. I was feeling a bit feisty when I responded. I don't think Gabe would enjoy the dive much if all he was "allowed" to do is hang on the conning tower ;)
I'm off to the corner to count to 100.

:) I don't think he would enjoy the dive at that depth either. It would be like "OK, wait here until we get back from seeing all the cool stuff" We're probably not going to end up getting out there anyway... the conditions are ever changing in that spot.

No worries. It's easy to get feisty online period never mind on this board ;)

Tell me about it. So far, I'm 0 for 6 on that damn sub. Someday I'll see her.

Wow, that doesn't help my outlook.... This is try #3 (I think) for me. I guess going around this time of year doesn't help anything either. Hopefully the weather/conditions will hold out on Monday and we'll get to do the dive.

I can't imagine the dive would be much fun in rough conditions anyway.

I'm still hoping that the weather will hold. I spent two hours last night mixing gas for a trip to the U-Boat this Sunday. This will be my third dive on it this season. The first two were good, with the second one having the best vis I've ever seen on that wreck (35 feet)

Last time I was out, I believe that we hit the tower at around 95 fsw. The deck was around 110. I maxed out at around 125, but I did not drop to the sand.

I usually plan the dive at 120 fsw and adjust from there depending on what I actually end up doing.
