I guess you're looking for a response. If used wrongly, it can be hazardous. I don't do that. :D
For a lot of Floreedeuns It's good to resist the temptation to say "Wait a minute! Hold my beer!"

Ask your local power company linemen how they feel about you using that system to power your house. Don't care, do you?

Not the Chairguy, but so long as one follows the process/checklist and disconnects the main, or has an interlock, why?

Indeed, I disconnect the main before I do anything. Yeah, the power company knows about it too. They taught me how to do it safely. Thanks for playing. OMMOHY wins this round.

Hey, Glen Campbell !!!

How you feel about the Chairguy decoupling from the grid before energizing his house? Or you prefer him to just leave it all hooked up?

I get a kick out of you oh so law abiding people breaking the law in ways that actually could kill someone if a mistake was ever made. And then insisting scuba divers should never hold their breath.

Nothing illegal about powering your house from a generator, particularly when line juice is down. For some folks, in places like Floreeduh (or out in rural Louisianuh where I grew up), it's an expected part of life from time to time.

Some of us around here do things others consider crazy (fly along in the thin air at hundreds of miles an hour (and sometimes fly into the ground (land) at 120-140 kts when you can't even see 201 feet in front of or below you - that leaves you horizontally (literally, in a literal sense) a 1 second reaction time!)); shoot guns, sometimes machine guns in full squirt gun mode; tinker around with electrical things; or go underwater and breathe air straight out of a tank charged at more than 3,000 psi!) In general, we train; we understand the risks; we understand the mitigating activities around those risks; do those mitigating things religiously (or atheistically, depending on your persuasion), in the right order, often with specialized equipment, protocols and maybe even checklists, and accomplish those activities safely.

Oh, and completely within the spirit and letter of the law.

Don't try to be Butthead, Beavis.

I may go pop popcorn. 🍿🍿 Anybody want some?

Like a lot of other things in life, backfeeding your panel isn't dangerous unless you don't know what you're doing. Every outage I've ever had, the power company came around and verified everyone's main breaker was off before they started working in my area. If they hear a generator engine running, they knock on your door and make sure your breaker is off. Generator or not, they dont work without everone's breaker shut off, for many reasons. Show them your setup and they're good. They don't blindly rely on joe consumer for their safety.

If your house is burning down, the first thing the fire department does (if they can) is shut off your main. Ask me how I know
