Thanks Barry,
That seems like a good method for a belt mount. I'll probably implement both methods and try them out. Either one is better than the metal on metal method of quick links between the backplate and the cannister.
Loosebits,
Your suggestion seems to work pretty well. I made a dry run experiment with a couple of bungie cords you might pick up at Walmart with metal hooks. It holds it in place, but obviously those metal hooks can bend, so it's not going to be my prefered method. It did, however, prove the theory.
I need to pick up some shock cord and cave line, as well as some stainless steel hose clamps. If I do it right, remove the OMS clamps, and replace them with the hose clamps, I should be able to place Barry's DIR belt loop as well as mounting points to nest it between my tanks, and switch at will.
Either way I go, I think the DIR 'no metal to metal' method is the way to go. I had been thinking of a too rigid, permanent connection. I think this blinded me to more simplistic ideas. I'll have to place a picture of my finished product when I'm done. Thanks for everyones posts. It's given me a new perspective on how to do things.
