First thing I thought of too. But, there's nothing like the mention of a pony bottle to get the DIR crowd riled up. Mentioning a pony bottle to a DIR is like insulting Mohammed is to Muslims. Let them have their own forum so they can goose-step all they want with each other. Irony of it is, it's not DIR that most people have a problem with, it's the arrogance that goes with it.

Your killin' me.

I have yet to meet a DIR diver who is arrogant. To the converse, everyone I have met is incredibly polite and helpful, and are in fact the complete antithesis of everything you fabricate here.

That's pretty harsh. SOME DIR folk do seem to think that there way is the only way. OTOH, in caves it does seem to be true. IN CAVES, not open water.

I'm not running down BP/W, but every time someone asks pro and con for a certain BC, someone urges a BP/W, which was NOT the question.

Not to be a spoilsport, but are some of these really contentious issues? Some people like wings, some a BC. Most of these issues are a matter of personal preference and not the source of acrimony or overt prejudice (we don't want any stinking split fins on this boat!!!)

A contentious issue would be one in which one side tries by force to impose it's views on others, or acts in a way that impacts those of the opposite opinion --- evolution vs creation is one such issue, whether you like regular sneakers or high tops is not. Split fins are not seeking to ban all other fins, and people who use wings are not out to outlaw jacket bcds.

LDS/online might such an issue, since online shoppers may drive LDS owners out of business, hurting all local divers. Solo/buddy might also be an issue, in that dive operators may insist on buddy diving, thus imposing a philosophy on those who disagree with it.

That may be true ... but the first comment doesn't really pertain to the second.

The fact is that the vast majority of BP/W wearers on ScubaBoard are not DIR folk. And in fact, it may be a safe to say the majority of BP/W wearers have no interest in ever becoming DIR folk.

So long as the "new" diver agrees to dive a long hose, & a bk/wing:D

What would you know? You live in Denver.

The most discussed topic on this board IS the board.

I've never seen an Internet board that has so many of its members spending so much time talking about the board its self.

It continues to amuse me.

Put down the mouse, and go dive.
