Most contentious SCUBA issues talked about

What are the most contentious and talked about areas on this board. Pick the one you believe is the most argued / talked about. Also show the next four (or more) in decreasing order.

Mine are:
1. LDS/online
2. pony tank
3. wings/BC
4. split/paddle fins and
5. solo/buddy (this covers a wide range from “better off alone than with a bad buddy” to “how close should you stay”)

First thing I thought of too. But, there's nothing like the mention of a pony bottle to get the DIR crowd riled up. Mentioning a pony bottle to a DIR is like insulting Mohammed is to Muslims. Let them have their own forum so they can goose-step all they want with each other. Irony of it is, it's not DIR that most people have a problem with, it's the arrogance that goes with it.

I agree with KIM. DIR in my opinion is much more of a contentious topic than the others mentioned. In my opinion, this probably from a lack of knowledge about what DIR/GUE is REALLY about.

They used to have spirited debates in the DIR forum, back in the Novadiver days, which I found interesting. Now they discuss which side of the crotch strap the Betty Crocker knife goes. Zzzzzzzz.

I agree with the DIR thing; except I think it is older than that and I would call it somthing along the lines of "my agency is better than yours". This is being going on for years; long before DIR came along.

If you want to start comparing DIR divers to Muslims, then perhaps it's fair to also compare the anti-DIR crowd to the Jerry Falwell/Pat Robertson side of "Christianity".

Funny how people talk of the arrogance of DIR, but I haven't really met one arrogant DIR diver, ever. All of them that I know are great down to earth people.
Also ironic how (usually) the people who bash DIR are also the people who usually silt up the bottom for everyone else.
