I would like to reply to Mr. Yarborough and his syncophants who willingly agreed to his story without question. I was the Instructor with the Sea Divers group. I must have been in the water when his little set to with the "old lady" happened as I missed that. I do know that we were there at 0645 on Saturday morning and we did stake out the tables under the pavillion. That is how it is done. First come, first served. Vortex, Ginnie, any spring you want to talk about. In fact, we had finished 35 minutes of snorkeling (surface dives and tired swimmer pushes and tows), suited up and completed another 38 minute scuba dive for skills and some guided exploration, before another diver of any type showed up at Morrison Springs. While we ate our brunch and took a break, no one said anything to us, so I'm assuming that all this "debacle" occurred while we were back in the water for the third and last time for the day.

Mr. Yarborough also talked about some kids who were unable to get in out of the rain that day, however since I was there and remembered that the rain stopped while we were doing our snorkel work, it must have been that little cloud that follows him around as I never saw another drop all day.

I do recall one of my assistants complaining about some folks coming in and messing with his gear bag and dry stuff while he was in the water. That is considered bad form anywhere.

If you want to get a good spot, get there early. That's what we do. Oh and we've been going to Morrison and Vortex since the 70's so we are not exactly out-of-towners. When I left Morrison around lunch time, it was still relatively uncrowded. I didn't see anyone without a place to set up. I wonder what Mr. Yarborough will think on that first Saturday that the boats in PC get blown out and everyone and their brother is at the springs. He will really be whining when he has to step over folks to get to the water.

Finally, this forum (read the rules) is for discussing diving, not for whining because you had to walk an extra step to get to the water.
Space is limited. Youll have to learn to save some for the rest of us. Doesnt matter if youre there first or not. Bring a tent if you are going to have a lot of people. Personally, I liked the park before the state messed it up. THere was more space.

People are willing to agree with Mr. Todd, because he has been teaching in this area for a while now and they know what kind of person he is.

Sea Divers has been in the area quite a bit longer, and if an 80+ year old woman wants to go off on a tangent then so be it. I only wish Im not only diving, but runnng a dive shop at that age.

To be fair Im a customer of both Sea Divers and the Dive Locker and both owners have their faults. Sea Divers is run by older people who have their own quirks and traits, but let's not pretend Tony is a box of rainbows either. I have no doubt she might have offended someone, but at the same time she'd give you the shirt off her back any day of the week.

Dive shops often get permanent scars from online rants. Sea Diver's is no where near deserving...

hell, if I last to George or Mary's age, I figure I should be able to hide my own easter eggs & wrap my own presents. I'm really expecting that I won't make it that long...

Interesting there Bobozar or whatever your screen name is...diving is promoted, as a friendly, family oriented sport. In your post you succeeded in making a personal attack on a instructor, for disagreeing with you, and seem to encourage the concept of "I was here first". Classy guy. Are these concepts encouraged at your LDS?

So I understand this Sea Divers is not deserving of being complained on yet attacking Dive Locker-not even affiliated with this rant, and its owner Tony (who has not been mentioned or has posted on this) is ok?

The point was, not everyone is perfect and people often garner wrong preconceived notions of people and businesses they have never met. No disrespect to Todd as I believe what he says, but mini rants on the internet (even when 110% true) can unjustly and severely damage a dive shop.

Besides, I didn't attack the Dive Locker.

EDIT -

And am I wrong in assuming Todd is still an instructor (and in which case a rep) for the Dive Locker? Affiliated it is.

YOU brought Dive Locker into it. YOU brought Tony into it. Todd was man enough to stand on his own on the subject...he voiced his concerns based on his own expericence and views.

If you are not certain if Todd is affiliated with the Dive Locker, then why bring the shop and its owner into this?

If you do know Todd is still affiliated with the Dive Locker, then you know he doesn't complain often if at all, and is a stand up guy, AND that this event must have been bad enough to merit being brought to the public's attention.

Whatever buddy :eyes:

EDIT - Responding to What was added later into post.

Again. What ever pal. You seem to be missing the point and going off subject. Not saying anyone isn't a stand up guy. Have I attacked anyone? No. Just making sure Sea Divers doesn't get hurt by a flame war on ScubaBoard brought on by overzealous people such as yourself. Am sure you're just defending your LDS as I am mine and Im not getting into a pissing match over this, but don't read more into my posts than what's there and say Im insulting anyone.

Thank You

I don't know any of the people involved, but is the person you're saying would give someone the shirt off her back the same one that wouldn't allow kids a place to sit and eat at "her table" at a state park?

but mini rants on the internet (even when 110% true) can unjustly and severely damage a dive shop.

If a rant is 110% true, is any damage from it really unjust?

Cave Diver, yes it is the same lady that said no to three kids when they asked if they could share a table.

And to the posts before, it doesn't matter if you have been around longer or not, it is a public park, no one owns it other than the state. And no one had even mentioned Dive Locker or Tony until your post. Both had nothing to do with this event.

As far as rants leaving scars well she should think before she speaks, and according to other posts it is something that happens often. If I was affiliated or worked for that shop like Bobozar, instead of calling us liars and basically telling us just to deal with it (which makes no sense if we are lying) I would apologize for her actions and make it known that the shop doesn't operate that way. Which is what Wayward Son did in his earlier post. We don't dislike the shop I know nothing about them other than one of the owners was not polite to those kids or Todd. Yes she is old but thats no excuse.
