Do boats usually have a bathroom?

Boats bigger than 35 feet maybe. I've never been on a dive shop boat that had one.
My boat has a bathroom A 5 gallon bucket behind the console....or just hang your rear over the side. :D

Basic question - may seem odd but scenario happened last week

Interested to hear what advanced divers/dm/instructors have to say

Diver in group has attack of Montezumas revenge on first dive with group of people unknown to him and a DM/Dive Leader. Twenty minutes into 50 - 70 foot dive he knows he has to *go* and won't make it to safety stop or boat and has to *go* underwater

What is the protocol/etiquette How do you slip away without alarming Dive Leader or do you just let it all hang loose and hang the embarassment?

Sorry if this is a Q that raises eyebrows or churns tummies but this is/was a real scenario

Seriously? Just move a little down current from the other divers
first if there's time. And don't violate any rules such as ascent
speed, safety stop, etc. just to get to a bathroom.

Here's a more civilized way. My friend does this a lot. I think he'd rather go underwater than in a bathroom. That's his backplate webbing below his butt....not what it looks like.

My father in law tried that maneuver. The ..uhm.."hammer", floated up inside his rash guard between the nylon and his back. He did not realize it until he got back on the boat.

:rofl3:

Sounds like afterwards he needed to go to the chiropracter since diving gave him such a shi*ty back!

The graphic description he shared with me is a visual you can do without. LOL

Along the same lines, but opposite end, what do you do if you feel nauseous and have to throw up? Forgive me for asking such a basic question, as I haven't yet taken any classes. Have any advanced divers thrown up underwater and actually survived?

Puke in yer reg....errr...octo.

It works just fine.

Chug
Did that a few times.

Yes you can vomit through your regulator at depth, it is one of the topics covered in basic scuba class.

Thanks for the quick reply Chug and One. It seems a little counter-intuitive but thank goodness regulators can handle it. These kinds of answers help with the pre-scuba jitters :)
