Gross, but illustrative: photo of Warhammer Maneuver.

I've never had this happen to me, but I have always wondered what I would do if I could not make it to the head! Thanks for your bravery in coming clean with such a question.

Your approach was certainly safer, I don't like the idea of a buddy going out of my eyesight when at depth, but I like the idea of being near them when they go even less.

Umm, why is this under "Advance Scuba Discussion?"

Those purple boots you're wearing might do. :shocked2:

I wouldn't recommend this to a newby. Did you see how much gear the guy had to strip off in the picture?

why did I post the question here? Cos I wanted advanced diver opinion/direction

I am astonished it isn't covered in class during training (vomiting is) and oddly/coincidentally I asked instructor about exactly this and she just looked embarassed and changed the subject

I still haven't really got the answer - I was seriously lucky everyone else made it into theboat before I whispered to DM and fled behind the engine before I exploded

lmao

Still would like to know if DMs or instructors have protocol/etiquette or understanding of this issue

I can't imagine I am the first

PS to other guy re westuit: I am diving in swimsuit only (85 degrees water temp)

Not quite the Montezuma's Revenge but more like underwater pressure and lots of roughage for dinner the previous night for me. I thought that I was gonna die and at one point I was about to say the hell with it and live with the shame afterward. Somehow I made it to the boat, got on the boat, stripped off the required gears, made it to the SINGLE bathroom that managed to not be occupied.

It has happened to me on at least two occasions.
I have had to shuck the gear and do the peel as I said.
I dive with just a poly-skin above 80f and put a 3/2 over it in the winter (typically December till early May down here).
The Trigger fish seem to just love it.
If your buddy sees you ripping off your gear with your reg clenched tightly in your mouth, and has no idea what is going on, well then it's a good time to learn.
Chug
No longer eats Trigger fish.

This Warhammer manuver could mess up you're buoyancy and sent you into a free ascent arz first.

How do you figure that? You are releasing material (and gas) that float, that would make you sink, if anything. Just look at the photo.:mooner:
