I'm no expert at reading the buoy reports and such so I'm starting this thread in hopes someone will come along to fill in the gaps and keep us(read: me) updated on how it looks for Saturday.

The marine forecast reads:
.SAT...NW WINDS 25 TO 35 KT. COMBINED SEAS 11 TO 16 FT.
CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

I haven't been reading these reports and correlating them to actual dive conditions long enough to know for sure, but I don't think I've ever dived in wave heights of 11 to 16 feet.

The experimental scripps models are also off the chart, reading what looks to be 6' even at del monte.

Ok, now I hand it off to you wave forecast gurus. :D

It's looking to be rather sporty.

Let's wait a day or two to see if they update the forecast. It hasn't changed since Sunday, and that's unusual.

The last time it was forecasted to be this big, I went to Monastery to video for Doc Wong's project and the waves weren't anywhere close to the forecast. Even Monastery was diveable.

I'll probably bring my hiking shoes to Point Lobos just in case the forecast is correct.

Yeah, I'm still going to see for myself too. I'll bring my hiking boots too and maybe we'll just do a group hike instead of a group dive. :D

If thats what the forecast is looking like.... Its looking more and more crazy then charles manson on crack....

I like their synopsis on Saturday's winds. 15-25kt increasing to 15-25kt. Hmmm.

It's looking a LOT better than it was earlier this week when swells were 10-14ft along with big wind waves.

Let's go diving! And bring some wood for a bonfire at Monastery!

I'll be there with my bells on. Okay, no bells, but tank. I am hoping to do at least one dive, but if there is any hint of :lightning: or thundershowers, I won't be in the water. :sprint:

Reposting this here in case people aren't reading both threads:

Days Events

Diving: Park opens at 9 AM. Lets plan to be there around that time. First dive entry at about 10:30 AM. Doc Wong wants to get an underwater photo with everyone in it so we'll try to do that on the first dive. Doc Wong will be leading the first time, but the site will be dependant upon the weather, conditions, and the skill level of the divers involved. So, a site determination will be made that morning.

NOTE: Conditions have been updated and are better than they have been listing over this week, so we are likely to be able to dive. HOWEVER, if we aren't, there are a number of us that might go for a hike. If you want to hike, make sure you have the appropriate footwear.

Lunch: Please bring your own. There are no lunch facilities @ Lobos. There is a water fountain at the restrooms, but you might be advised to bring your own water too.

Post Dive Dinner @ Gianni's: For those hungry diver safter the day's events, we'll be meeting at Gianni's Pizza at around 4 PM to 4:30PM.
(725 Lighthouse Avenue, Monterey: gianni's loc: Monterey, CA - Google Maps).

Night Dive: There is talk of a night dive, possibly at Monastery. See: March 15th after Lobos night dive? Make sure you have all necessary lights and tank markers. Also, you might wish to have a camplight to get dressed by. I know some are not interested in diving Monastery at night, so talk amongst yourselves.

If anyone needs my cellphone number, send me a private message today. Otherwise, I am looking forward to seeing you all down there.

I'm going to continue my chanting to the weather gods and maybe we'll get lucky in the cove like Doc has in the past. :god:
