Tamas,

I don't know if it is a line trap? Soggy mentioned it and I said I would think about the issue. It didn't seem to me to be a line trap, but I haven't even completed my Cavern yet. I think I like the Hog forum because you can debate this stuff. :)

It has nothing with certifications or gear configuration.....but everything with imagination and ingenuity.

If you run the 5/8 strap up from behind the sta or the cam slots around the neck of the tank, then it is nice and tight and out of the way...snug up against the tank and the wing/bp.

Here, these will help:

Looks just like my old Zeagle strap, Tamas. Can anyone explain how it would be a line entrapment point? It seems to me that if you have you tank valve on the line, then valve itself would be more of a target for tangling line.

How many times do you want to go over it? Yes, there are multiple definitions for Hogarthian, some would even say it's more of a direction then dogma, whatever. In general the people who post in this forum have similar ends they are looking for and are truly trying to learn, but of course, there's always someone ready to chime in with their 3 cents

btw, here's a definition you could use :D :
-Line Trap: When the guide line gets into a crevice or a crack through which the diver can not pass (eg., a crack near a curtain formation that is only 6 inches wide). This term came from an experience by Forrest Wilson in a Georgia cave and he included the concept into the NSS-CDS standards in 1978.

Ok, Line Trap is the wrong term. How about "something that, no matter how unlikely, could catch a fishing hook and isn't needed, so you might as well not bring it along." :D

Configured the way Tamas has it, it's less of an issue, but often I see people with their carrying strap just dangling out there. Makes me want to grab ahold of it and go for a ride...my own living scooter.

Ah yes, the ever-so-dangerous fish hook inside the cave ;)

From the way redhatmama decribed it I think they will use the strap in that way, tight against the tank.

Next time you see one waving in the breeze, grab hold, lock your knees around their tank and ride the bull.

LOL! Gator doesn't mince it. I like the idea of a process. If I'm not looking for small critters, don't bring the magnifying glass? That sort of thing? If I really need a flashlight bring 2 or 3. I think I get it.

And yes, I've always used my carrying handle as a BC stop. When you're on charters with rented tanks in the cups, it's a lot easier for me.

Thanks!
