if you toss your gear in a tub to soak then all the salt and crap is gonna end up in the tub with your gear anyways...

Right, that’s why I run me gear under the hose instead of soaking it.I mean, you're not wrong, but if you get rid of the pollution all together there's no need to dilute it?![]()
For personal use with just your own gear, yeah definitely no harm.Right, that’s why I run me gear under the hose instead of soaking it.
But if you are soaking it in a reasonably large quantity of fresh water, the salt concentration from whatever is stuck to your gear is going to be trivial.

But when there's 5-6 (or more!) people all dipping their gear in a tank after a day on a boat that's gonna be a no from me
I love washing my gear in the shower,
Amen! I actually love cleaning my gear. That’s the main reason I got a rebreather- more to clean...![]()

Hi dr.m,
I can't say I like or love cleaning my gear; however, it is a great feeling knowing that everything is thoroughly cleaned and ready for the next adventure. Same with my guns. I have a work station in "my" basement hobby room just for stuff like that.
I recently overhauled a thermo tank valve just because. It kind of needed it.
