I think I am going the BP/Wing route. I found what I think is a good deal and since I actually tried the Halcyon set-up and liked it I think it is a decent choice.

A LDS is selling the Halcyon 36lb system, a ScubaPro MK18/G250 HP regulator, and Scubapro R390 Octopus for $849. I asked for advice on the "General Equipment" forum and got two replies saying it was a good deal.

After shopping around I think that is a fair price. I hope I don't have any regrets, I am a bit nervous about finally making the purchase because it is a lot of money to me. It will get me out in the water though, which is the point of all this anyway.

Sound good?

Thanks for all of your help on this matter!

We make a backplate and harness for single tank divers, you might want to throw us into your 'hopper' for consideration.

I'll admit, I was skeptical of the idea of swimming out with a steel plate on my back with no padding.

But...

I bought the Halcyon set-up and dove my new gear for the first time today. Everything went very well. It was not even uncomfortable on land. I suppose that is because the harness is so customizable. I felt great and was able to maintain proper trim. I said all of this before when I tried the rental...I just wanted to give you all an update since I finally made the purchase. I would like to thank you all again for your advice.

See you all in the sea!
