I joined a few Scubaboard members last summer for a couple shore dives in Lake Michigan at Hammond Marina. We were told of a shipwreck there, but we were unable to find it.

We did our dive just to the right of the break wall and walked out from the beach area.

Is that where the casinos are? Or is that a different marina?

Nevermind. I followed the link you provided and found the answer. I never thought of diving from there. Interesting to say the least.

There are a few casinos around that area.

We joined up with Joe, Rob, and a few others from Scuba Tank (Valpo). It was a shallow dive... I think our max was 20' or so!?!?
I have a few pictures posted from that day/dive on my facebook page.

I've been to a few lakes in the greater detroit area for shore diving. It's possible, but at most l places the conditions aren't great. I'll often go down to the northwest ohio quarries. Though, Union Lake wasn't that bad this spring. There is a shop out of Brighton that has weekly local dives, if you want to contact them (Aquatic Adventures)

Edit: I see Paula already added the link to Aquatic Adventures...

How about I hook you up to a jet ski and tow you out to a dive location? Is that helpful?
:D
