Anyone have experience with affordable underwater metal detectors? I know that affordable is subjective. But pros or cons - things to consider? I mostly want a beach friendly version, but a local shop here used to rent some high quality underwater models. Seems like that could be a lot of fun.

You can spend from $300 to many thousands of dollars given the variety on just one websight, kellycodeterctors.com. I used a mid- range value item years ago off the Florida Keys and found it was not my thing. Their sight, though, should give you a lot of information.

Thanks! I should have checked more before posting. Most choices are very expensive. Without dragging the thread out, I would be interested in what made it 'not your thing'. Might help a few of us.

I am probably headed for just a good affordable beach version.
