Love the sculptures howard :), did they make any out of ice??
I remember seeing some ice sculptures once, very impressive..

Can only image it would have taken to form and compact the snow like that..

Can only image it would have taken to form and compact the snow like that..

They use concrete forms, and build large 10X10X12' high blocks of snow weighing 20 tons.

They get snow from the ski area (no problem there) and use clean white snow. They fill the forms with heavy equipment, and people pack it tight... It takes a few days for setup.

The teams get 65 hours to complete their sculptures, and they can only use hand tools... no power tools at all. This is the 17th annual competition.
