Air mattresses are now a required piece of dive equipment for Conchs :)

baitedstorm:
walking out from your bedroom and seeing bodies scattered everywhere you look....

Reminds me of the chamber scene from Conan.

I just came back from spending the day walking around the property. We have a set closing date on the contract of 4/24. If we get onto the property by then, we will definitely be changing the party venue to the house! There is porch space for tables/chairs, a backyard area setup for barbecues and campfires, and LOTS of parking space!!!!!!!!! Did I mention LOTS of parking space? There is also a lot of area that tents can be setup on without a problem. It is only 6 miles from Cave Excursions, and about 9 miles to Ginnie's front door! I have put the mortgage broker and realtor together advising my mortgager that I have a spare kidney if we need more $ for the down payment. Looks like we may end up needing some creative financing, but it should work out well. Hmmm... wonder how much I could sell the teenager for in Shanghai.

Nastiest pirate ta ever roam the new lands!

It took you all day to walk around your property - man thats some a piece of land ;)

I walked all four corners, scouted for campsite areas, new building constructions, looked at what neighbors I have, other properties on the road, the property next door that may become available to add to this making it a TEN ACRE plot eventually,...
walked the inside of the trailer, looked at the appliances, outside,... the sheds, the pond and driveway improvements,... there is even a 6 month old lab puppy that hung out with us from next door and played in the yard with Lil' B all day. We're trying to close the down payment issue and then it's a done deal. Once that's taken care of, we could move in within a month.

Sounds like a great plot of land, I hope the rest of the deal goes through without issue.

I'm not certain, and not to be a stick in the mud, but I think if the campsite goes to Ken's front yard, I may still stay at Ginnie. I kinda like the convenience of it all. Although the idea of all these madhatters in one place, is too tempting a thing to resist. That and the mass exodus to Ginnie every morning to sign in and pay up could be worth a few laughs in and of itself.

I'm still considring leaving the campsite as Ginnie, unless someone wants to save some money and camp at my place. Then again, camping may be at Ginnie, but the "party/BBQ" may take place at my place. Who knows. At this point, it's still at Ginnie because everyone knows where it is, or can find it easily.

Ken, i was thinking that you were awful brave having all those peeps over at
your place (you know what a pig Simon can be).

i would leave the camping at Ginnie (just a thought). closer to the action, less
work for you.

also, if you have your own place going, we might get split into two groups and
not have as much fun.

anyway, you did a great job last year and i'm sure you'll do a great job this year
whatever the plan ends up being.

I agree with the convenience issue. This will also be the last event I will be able to attend until after the baby is born. I will be hosting a Halloween party at my place, which may be a combo megadive. Holly is due middle of October, and will probably be off work for at least a month around that time. Money will be tight so I'm not sure how much diving I'll be getting in. Mortgage will be the priority. :) Next year's megadive however, will definitely be at my place! MD-6! It will be decked out to be party central!
BTW! For those of us who enjoy braving the river, I have found two new locations for drop-off and pickup. Drop-off is at Rum Island, above Ginnie Springs, pickup is at the bridge of 47. Check out a map and see the distance. It will probably turn into a surface float at the 3/4 mark depending on air consumption. It's a ways past Ginnie. At least it's a failsafe if we overshoot our exit AT Ginnie. :)
