Storm- Yes, Ginnie Springs = High springs. As a matter of fact

Ginnie Springs Outdoors, LLC
7300 NE Ginnie Springs Road
High Springs, FL 32643

When I lived in Orlando I went there a few times but the wife did not like the diving there. We not being cave certified she looked around and said.. huhhh wet rocks.

I on the other hand thought that gearing up and seeing just a little further down that dark hole would be intereresting she not only would no venture to do it herself but did not like to hear me even mention doing it myself.

Spring break is alot of fun there though.. I could just lay on the bottom of the Santa Fe and look up at the beautiful clear water for hours.

SIMBrooks - How involved is a intro to cave? Actually for that matter a cavern class? I think now that I am untethered I might like to explore the idea.

So. Floridians I am comped out for May 12th though that is a sleeping day for me I am leaving early May 13th (OH! Lovely a FRIDAY!) If anyone else is heading up early we can get together to do some splashing around or to toss some shoes.

After all that is all there is to see ;)

I would bank on at least a long weekend, possibly more dives than that. Plenty of reading up front, with some review time, gear trimming/exchange, dry land drills, intro to cavern OW drills, then at least 4 cavern dives. Intro would be another 4 dives on top of that, for most courses you do a little more work for intro than cavern, not the case with GDI - we covered all the intro at cavern and did it again for intro. I would expect you need to have a 7ft hose, bungeed back up, good light - HID?, backup light - if you are doing intro then go with an H or double tanks, another back up light, knife, timer/tables/computer and of course for all of it, time, patience and a good way to vent frustration after the dives (trust me something in the course will get you frustrated - or at least for most people).

$$$$$$ and $$$$$$$$ and $$$$ and then $$$$

Well that is filed away for future adventures then

I have in front of all of that. Great Abaco, Cat Island, Turks and Caicos, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Jamica, Antigua, BArbados, Antilles, Costa Rica, Belize and Cozumel but that is in the next 18 years to pick out my retirement home.

That and all of a sudden I want a H&K 93 just a fancy that gave me a tickle recently.

And now back to your previously unhijacked thread....

I wont answer the question as i think you are being serious! ;)

:11: okay, so I'm slow.... I seriously didn't know it was in High Springs. I guess when your a little kid on a great big farm, you loose sight of where everything else is (or maybe it just doesnt matter at that point)

Sooooooooo Simon, lets talk about you :eyebrow:

diver doh:
Okay, so now you know how I feel.....

So here's the directions...

...At I-75 Exit 78, turn off onto Ramp 0.1 mi

Just for the record, that is the old exit number. The new exit number for the Alachua/High Springs exit is 399, IIRC.

I step away for a week and look what happens, 7,964 posts!!! JK.
A few notes on disturbing reads,... Andy... watch where ya put the hands when the reel tangles, unless ya wanna draw back a stump, Andy,... Simon and I don't silt the water up that much, we call it subaquatic intersiltial-exploration. (Sounds better than HEY IDJIT! WATCH THE FINNING PATTERN!!!)
Hmm always seems to be about Andy. :)
Jenny, no there aren't any sharks in fresh water, except for the Great White Andy, have you seen him when he's changing shirts in the parking lot? Look at a nuclear blast for some shade relief. Oh wait, that was me whiter and brighter than the sun, nevermind.

Now for some good news/bad news. I am swapping mortgage companies, and have signed a contract on a 5 acre parcel with a trailer already established. It is about 8 miles South of Ginnie Springs and CE. It is 300 feet from a paved road and very easy to find. Three turns from the driveway, you're at Ginnie's door. If all goes well, we could be closing by the end of the month, and moving just before megadive! It's not the bigger and newer 2000 sq ft trailer, but it's 1512 sq ft which is close enough for government work,... right Andy? Things are shaping up well. I will be dropping money the reservations for the campsite on the 18th. If we can't get that site, we'll be moving the party to the house, saving everybody 16 bucks/night/camper. It will be a blast ether way.

nice map...

you better buy lots of couches :D

hehehehehe! Most of us from down here have a blow-up mattress... We are professional house invaders :eyebrow: > When we did the Jupiter dive everyone stayed at my place, there's something refreshing about walking out from your bedroom and seeing bodies scattered everywhere you look.... hehehe!
