I agree that these are not soley singles divers issues. However, there are other aspects to traveling and diving solo. Some of them were very well explained by Don. Here's another example ( factual actually). I am going in a diving trip next week. Since I am going by myself, I have no idea whom I will "buddy" with. Not a good feeling. Also, the accomodations are based on double occupancy, which means that I will have a roommate whom I have never met before. This may no necessary be a nightmare, but is still a stranger. The alternative is paying extra to have a private room, which confirm Don's point about the added expenses. I understand that solo divers, married or single, may face the same situation, but us members of the Single Club are very likely to face this frequently, specially if most of your friends are non-divers.
I am not for the meat market concept. And I agree with the idea of not allowing personal ads. I see nothing wrong with providing a tool for divers in a similar situation to meet, discuss common issues and find diving buddies and new friends.
I don't understand the opposition. What's the big deal? If you are not interested on the topic move on to the next thread.
Just my 2 psi
I agree that your scenario presents interesting complications....But what I believe the issue was mainly about was folks that aren't married having a forum where they might hook up...
Your situation (not having someone to dive with) is tangential to the first issue. I'm sure a roommate chosen for you on a dive trip would not likely be of the opposite gender...
