I have a hog 23 wing. it has a nice compact size and is great underwater.

I'm sure you've already considered this but for other readers I will mention that it's less supportive than average on the surface.

It's a very different feeling than a big jacket style BCDs with 40+ lbs of lift, effortlessly keeping the diver's head above the surface of the water. I would even say it's noticeably less supportive than a 30 lb wing even though the difference is small numerically.

Thanks for this! Yes, I’m confident that will still provide sufficient lift for my purposes. Do you have any durability or quality concerns with the wing?

mine is put together well, still in near mint condition after years of ownership. I only have used it in freshwater, though, maybe that's cheating.

I notice that the outer fabric is 840D cordura whereas my trusty DGX wing is 1000 Denier. I have no knowledge about materials so maybe someone else can comment on whether this difference is actually relevant in the real world.

FWIW…

Hog wing quality is very good for the price but it has been several years since my husband had one. Is the DR more durable? Probably. But is it really necessary for the average diver? Probably not, especially not for the price. And I personally would not choose a wing that required a STA for single tank diving.
