I'm in full agreement with diversteve about the backside of Molokini not being for snorkelers or the inexperienced. Inside the crater may be a different story but I've not dove there (yet). Also, I would like to add one small item to diversteve's very thorough and concise recommendations, and that is the North end of Wailea Beach, aka Ulua Beach, is usually very easy and interesting snorkeling. I recommend going in the morning before the trade winds pick up. I took someone there who had never been snorkeling before and she had a great time and the reef is pretty shallow so you might see lots of colorful fishes. A huge sea turtle was swimming around us in only about seven feet of water. Enter to the left of the rocks and swim out and to the right.

Oh, and it's pretty good scuba diving too!
