Maui vs Kona

I've been to Kona a couple of times and I love it. We're going to Hawaii next November and are trying to decide whether to go back to Kona or to Maui. I hear that the beaches and boogie boarding are better in Maui , which would be a plus for some of our party, but I wonder if the diving is as good? Please grace me with your wise opinions.

The general opinion on here seems to be that Maui's diving is second to the Big Island. The diving on Maui is great, but just not quite as good as the Big Island.
