Take a Master Diver course through NAUI. They will recognize your PADI AOW/SRD certs, so you can go straight into MD. In NAUI you will have MD course materials, class time, and will have to carry out special dives in order to earn your MD cert.

Absolutely. The MD "certification" from SSI and PADI really doesn't mean anything. The only benefit is you can list your specialties on your MD C-card, so you can carry one card that lists Nitrox and other specialties you might need.

But with NAUI, it is a real course that is well worth taking.

Hi Jeff, I am not familiar with the NAUI course. Would you mind high lighting for me what skills or education I would receive in the NAUI course that I can't get during the PADI courses.

Thanks, I appreciate your time and input.

High school was not a big deal to me. My grad party started with a fifth of Seagram's 7 Crown and a keg of Michelob. A buddy and I killed the fifth. I was just glad to be out of there. Graduated 14th (by GPA) out of 425 or so. Went to a big school. But it was no big friggen deal when it came time to get a job. My years of actually working in a grocery store while in school counted for more. Getting thru high school is no big accomplishment these days. Look at your avg college athelete. They did it to- so what? Excited to do it yes. Proud? Maybe for some. Lots more things to be more proud of. First buck, first big fish, first lay, and the biggest at that age- your first car. Now that meant something! 74 Jeep CJ5, 304 V8, 3/4 cam, headers, soft top, hurst shifter, hangman's nooses hanging from the roll bar for grab bars, and a kick ass 8 track tape deck! Now that was something to be proud of! And yes I'm old. Graduated in 78 and have not seen more than 4 people from my class in the last 32 years even though I live less than an hour from there. And ya know what? Most people will end up the same way. So who cares about it. It was what it was and it was done the day after I got out of there and never looked back.

Wow, Jim....

Do you want to talk about it? :)

Totally hear you about the "being" part being more important than the "getting to the end" part. Some of the best times of my life happened when I didn't think about tomorrow.

R..

Meh, milestones are in the eye of the beholder. It really just depends on what you value and really has no bearing on your worth, skills, proficiency, awesomeness, etc.

Jim: how do you remember your grad night? Maybe I'm just a lightweight :-D

The PADI MSD has spawned so many interesting threads and posts, not to mention the many posts citing the vast superiority of NAUI's MSD. And there I sat 4 years ago just thinking it would be something cool to do.

Never said I remembered the night. Just how it started! Woke up the next day in the yard. My sister and brother told me they put me to bed- twice. Last time they gave up when I supposedly was hugging the keg saying it was mine and not empty yet:shocked2:. Probably a good thing I don't drink at all now and haven't for over 10 years. There were a few of those times. I don't remember em but there are pics of me at weddings and such that prove I was there.

Wow, sound quite intense! :D
