A marine transceiver with gps would seem to be a device needed in certain situations.:D

Here is a link to a review of a gps/marine transceiver; it has the DSC (Digital Selective Calling) capability, including Distress Button, Position Send and Request.:

I discovered that nearly all online vendors did not have this device in stock; I found it on EBAY from a good seller for $284. or so, free shipping:

There is only one left from that seller.

Size: 6.8 by 2.8 by 1.5 inches and weighing close to one pound.. has a removable, 6.25-inch rubberized antenna.

Any suggestions on waterproof case?

Personally I’d rather use this and a small separate GPS like an eTrex.

It may not be as compact – or it may be depending on the GPS, but I’ve just had too many failures out of all in one units. Plus I love being able to monitor aircraft band on my ditch bag handheld just in case I need to hear what the rescue guys are doing over my head.
