Suggestions:
Male names: Bud or Raul
Female names: Helga or Ingrid
Gender neutral names: Fang

Logic behind suggestions: I wouldn't want to run into any large POed MF's named Bud, Raul, Helga, Ingrid, or Fang in the dark ;)

or anyone with a middlename of "the"

as in, Ingrid the Widow

No thanks, no scary wreck for me. That territory is ALL for you guys! ;)

Gidds.... I can't believe the name Marta wasn't on your list?

That's gotta be like your worst nightmare.... there you are on a dive and this giant PO'd MF named Marta appears and says "Back to the lab!!!" :D

LMAO! We're getting along right now. Luisa comes to mind though ;)

RIOceanographer:
I have never tried it but people do eat them.

I just did a google search for Conger Eel recipes and came up with this recipe for "Conger Eel Island Pie"!

http://www.cookitsimply.com/fish-an...recipes/conger-eel-island-pie-0010-05j50.html

I don't know why but "Conger Eel Island Pie" just doesn't sound like something I want to eat...... :D

OK, the congers we have around here are actually very common. I have caught many, many of them as a kid while fishing on my dad's boat. Though I have never seen one over 3 feet, they definitely look much more PO'd than the type in the pics posted earlier. I'm surprised that nobody else has seen them. Either that or I suspect that more folks have seen them under rocks and mistaken them for something else (Rock Cod, Wolf Fish perhaps). On a couple of occassions, I've seen smaller ones at Lanes. I've caught them everywhere from the outer harbor islands in 40' to stellwagon at well over 100'.

As far as eating... well, they're creepy to say the least. I've heard stories of the filets moving in the pan etc. I can tell you first hand that a dead one will still move / contort / whatever for hours after being caught. I like my fish completely dead before cooking.

FWIW, I remember an episode of the show Ushuia (spelling?) where the guy was diving dozens of HUGE congers somewhere off of England. They were actually baiting them and allowing dozens of them to swarm around themselves..... ALL SET THANKS!
