Of course Chris posts while I'm looking for a pic. I didn't think congers looked POed or like MFs but maybe after dark...

I think any fish with a flounder in its mouth qualifies as PO'd....

Well if a bug goes runnin into a hole. and then comes right back out backwards snappin his crusher claw back into the hole....mabye you dont wanna stic your hands in THAT hole

that was what the guess was from one of the other guys on the boat. but he didnt see it, just got the same explination i have you.
and this was seen on a night dive if that matters

The location and time both figure for a conger eel. That barge is in the mouth of the West Passage of Narrgansett Bay. Congers like to hang out around the mouths of estuaries so that is just the sort of spot you would expect to find one. They also tend to come out of their holes to hunt at night.

I have never tried it but people do eat them.

I just did a google search for Conger Eel recipes and came up with this recipe for "Conger Eel Island Pie"!
