Should I bother taking my Padi drift diving or advanced open watercourse in Coz? Looking into Aquacat for October...I am 52, only have 50 dives over 5 years, but i am really starting to love diving.
Hi Fred,
As Chief said, you are going to learn how to drift dive when you dive Cozumel, and unless you just want the card (which I don't think means much to dive ops anyplace), I see no reason to get it unless you are uncomfortable with the idea of moving over a reef without much kicking.. (I happen to love it...)
Cozumel is as good a place as any (sometimes better) to do the AOW course but my only question for you would be this... Would you prefer to spend a part of your vacation training or doing fun dives? I realize that you live in Canada and doing the AOW course in the next few months there may be a bit on the chilly side, but if there were any cert I'd recommend for Cozumel (ETC!) is Peak Performance Buoyancy / Trim. rather than "AOW".. I'm not suggesting you need it, but if you want to be an advanced diver, that is the most important skill a diver can posses... (IMO) Of course, a good instructor is a plus..
