Sue and I are leaving for Cancun in (see .sig) and I'm looking for some specific information about currents.

It's all about some silliness. We know there's no reefs and that shore diving off Cancun is pretty much a bust, and that's fine. It's actually perfect. One of our other hobbies is martial arts, and I promised some people at our dojang that I'd try to get some video of us doing forms underwater. :dork2:
I'd prefer not to have to deal with currents while doing this. :)

So, does anybody know where I can find information about currents off the north shore?

Thanks.

no, currents are variable.... some reefs have very light current all the time, some can have none to raging fast. It can vary day to day or even hour to hour. I have even done a dive where the current was running south-to-north at the beginning and then switched running north-to-south halfway into the dive and we ended up right where we started from!

Well, yes, I know they vary. But I am under the impression that these variations occur within established or "typical" current patterns. Not so?

It's not a terribly big deal. Our plan is simply to follow the bottom out till we're in ~30FSW with no reefs around (no chance of damaging sand...) and video the forms. I fully expect to look like an idiot, but it ought to be entertaining, at least to others who know the forms. :)
