Well I was busy this past couple of weeks, I got my US citizenship down in Miami, then I took the boat I run down to Hilton Head-SC, then drove back to Hatteras to pick up the boat truck, and got the chance to do my last dive of the season in Hatteras with JT & Nancy onboard the Under Pressure, we had a beautiful day flat calm seas and no wind, JT had a 5 diver group and we headed out 29 miles to the wreck of the MANUELA around 7:30 am, on the way out JT put out a couple of rods I was checking the rods then I told JT I need it to use the Bathroom so he took over the rods I was in the bathroom when I heard some commotion outside when I came out JT show me that one of the rods got spool out, he was driving and checking thru the glass in the door when he saw one of the rods was bent down he ran outside and before he can get to it , all the line was gone, you know the big one always gets away. we got to the MANUELA and set the anchor, nice blue water no current and no wind it was a hot day. Mike Boyle & Brad Sheard were the first divers to go down and secure the anchor then Yoda, Mike Boring & Karen, when the first diver came up (Yoda) I went down with Nancy, the Manuela is 160 feet deep the anchor was set between the boilers and the stern but we just stayed around 130 (JT's orders, I'm a new diver) so I stayed close to the anchor line with Nancy and took few pics of tropical fish and the wreck, the vis was 70' to 80', bottom temp was 75º it was a nice dive, my total dive time was around 26 minutes. When we finish our firts dive we started heading to the PROTEUS so we trolled and caught a small bonito (tuna), and Nancy grill some hotdogs for lunch, we got to the PROTEUS and set anchor, mi SIT was over 2 hours so I was the firts one to go down and secure the anchor, vis was 70' to 80' nice blue water and the wreck is down in 130' my deepest was 120', on my way down I was surrounded by sandtigers around 150 to 300 Lb in 60' to 90' deep. I secure the anchor right in between the two boilers and dove towards the engine and the stern, around the engine I saw two sharks so I dove next to them and took some pictures one shark was so close that I can touch it and I did, Yoda was the second diver down then Mike Boyle and Brad on my way up I took more pics of sharks swimming on top of the wreck and Karen & Mike Boring were coming down, after I did my dive the others divers toll me that the vis when down to 50' or 60', when I was up onboard JT & Nancy did their dive, after we finish and headed back to Hatteras and put four rods out with Ballyhoo and we got lucky and caugth a 30 Lb wahoo, guess what we had for dinner, well except JT, he had chicken, I clean the fish and JT took it to te restaurant ,and we had Blackened Wahoo at Teach's Lair Bar & Grill. Well I had a great season in Hatteras thanks to JT & Nancy, I put 20 extra dives in my log the last 2 months.
These are some of the pics I took.
