What Divers-SUPPLY is doing is smart. But as a consumer, you must detect the reasoning behind the marketing so that you dont get drawn in to bad deals. They are getting people to go to their site, generating traffic, and hoping some consumers get familiar with things enough, and have a pleasant enough experience, to come back again. That is what sales are for, nothing more, nothing less.

Divers-SUPPLY doesnt want to sell everything at the lowest price, they want to sell some things at the lowest price and other things at market price. MMDiver is smart to offer this sale as a original way to get people to the store. He is dangling the carrot in front of us like any marketer will. It is up to the consumer to decide if the carrot leads to anything good, or if it is just a scam. If he finds something good, then great, the consumer saves $, and the store gets a new customer that may come back later.

Both sides of the economy wins. It cant be done any other way.

His tactic worked too. I went to the site browsed through several pages, even though I know nothing about the dive gear and what I want/need. Forcing someone to browse the site and chose and item and "make and offer" is very smart. It is an interesting tactic and one I have never seen before.

BTW I made an offer on this dive gauge set, based on some recommendations from people I know that dive.

Glad you like it, I want to see a price, I'm not in a foreign bazaar.

Just out of curiosity, did it beat Leisurepro and by how much

I just submitted the offer so I will find out for sure on monday. The one I chose is 159 on leasure pro, so when I get the response I will certainly let you know. Everyone has different methods of buying, I have done normal sales, and bid on items. The key is to shop around and find the lowest price you can and then see if you beat that price. I can tell you that the offer I made was lower then leasure pro.

Part of my job is purchasing, I'll check out at least 5 prices, the government requires 3 quotes on items over a certain dollar amount. If the government for all it's waste requires 3 quotes, I want at least 3 before I spend my money. I just bought a hummingbird 997 plotter, side scan. The prices at BassPro and West Marine were around $2000+tax, I found it for $1745 at factoryoutlet, no taxes, free shipping. It pays to shop around.

You are absolutely right and that is what I am doing. I will let you know how it goes, whether he accepts, counters it, or whatever.

MMDiver:
OK, labor day is fast coming and for this weeks special it will be "Make me an Offer"
Pick anything from our website (I wouldn't bother asking on tanks and camera's) and send me a PM with an offer.

Reasonable offers will be accepted and if too low I will counter offer with the absolute lowest price I will sell it for.

In the event that your offer is too high I'll also let you know.

There are some products that the manufs. have established a MARP (minimum advertising and retail price)I'm not allowed to discount those. I'll let you know if indeed it is a MARP product and make suggestions of other comparable product that I can discount.

Folks, this will be BIG savings, all you need to do is take a few seconds to PM me.

Best
Mark

PS-PM's over the weekend will most likely be answered on Monday.

HERE is the website
Ok I'm a believer now, I read the Original Post and the follow ups by the skeptics and decided to make a low ball offer on a computer that I was considering anyway. Mark responded this am with a resonable counter offer. I replied that for that money I would rather have a similar product from a different brand. He confirmed, I now will have a new computer with warranty, for only slightly more than I would have had to pay for used on ebay, and Divers Supply has made another sale to a satisfied customer.
Thanks again

FOLKS, it seems I reached the PM limit on amount of messages, I had to clean older ones out. In the meantime I'm sure I missed some offers....

Because of this I will extend the sale another day, so now you can "make an ofer" until Wedsday!

Best

Mark
