Maine charters

Hi yall I was planning on a vist to my my brothers house in maine this summer and wanted to do some diving.He lives in the portland area i belive. He works on boats so he knows plenty of people to take me out (he does not dive yet). So im looking for fun sites and charters also. Also does anyone know the laws about lobster hunting ?My brother is under the impresion its illegal.

Your brother is correct, it is illegal to take lobsters while diving in Maine.

I'll leave the rest of the question to people that know more about Maine than what they learned from listening to Marshall Dodge and Robert Bryan albums.

thanx scubasarus i actully found that site about a week ago asked my brother about doing a shark dive and he said that the sharks were really scarce since the chicken companys went out of bussiness in the 70s or 80s or something like that. He said he would check on it though.not real sure what he ment.

Well if you get up to the Bar Harbor, ME area (3 hours north of Portland)... Diver Ed usually runs a weekly charter to places around the area. There is no place in this area to have Nitrox filled. In Southern Maine you could always do Nubble Light. That's a nice dive site too.

How did you find out about them all. Especially the one at Hazard Ave just to the left of the entry point in the shallows. Its so secret, it ejects you if you discover it.

Maine Divers Scuba Center heads out into Casco Bay Sunday mornings in season.
