Unless you are not keeping good care of your regs or sucking down >72 tanks of air a year, free parts warranties will cost you more than they are worth because you really don't need to service every 12 months.

Reefseal,
Why doesn't your profile identify you as an LP rep?

Because Reefseal is not a LP rep.

Re-read the post you quoted and you will see that the language from LP was sent to reefseal in response to an inquiry.

If would be clearer if the original post had the response from LP in quotes or something.

This depends on how often you dive, the conditions you dive in, and how you take care of your regs.

Here's what AL says about your Legend:

The Free Parts For Life Agreement is a three party agreement that involves responsibilities of the original owner, the authorized Aqua Lung Dealer and Aqua Lung. If all of the terms of the agreement are met, the original owner will receive free standard regulator overhaul parts every other year for the life of the regulator.

In order to maintain the Free Parts for Life Agreement the following terms must be met:
· The Aqua Lung or Apeks regulator must have been purchased from an Authorized Aqua Lung America Dealer
· The Free Parts for Life Agreement is only available to the original owner
· The regulator must be inspected by a participating Authorized Aqua Lung Service facility every year.
· The regulator must be overhauled by a participating Authorized Aqua Lung Service facility every other year *
· You must make sure the Dealer records both inspections and overhaul service in the “Annual Service and Inspection Record” located in the back of your regulator owner’s manual.

If the regulator is subjected to less than 50 dives per year* it is permissible to overhaul it every other year with an inspection procedure being performed on the “off” years. For example:

Year #1 Inspection
Year #2 Overhaul
Year #3 Inspection
Year #4 Overhaul
and so on.

· if the regulator is subjected to more than 50 dives per year it will require overhaul service every year. In this case you will only have to pay for parts every other year as documented by the Annual Service and Inspection record in the back of your Aqua Lung regulator owner’s manual.

Granted your LDS might not bill the parts in the off year, but you are paying for that in the labor charge.

Thanks. I didn't catch the top line that stated it was a quote. In the past I have seen HelenOster from LP answer questions about their company and warranty.

Leisure Pro Brett has been around too.

I think it's good when company folks visit in an official capacity. It makes me more likely to trust them (since they are willing to be held to account in a public forum). Companies that hide from customers make me skeptical.

Agreed. It let's people know that the company cares what customers think and are listening.

I have an OMS workhorse reg that I need to learn to service myself. There is only one LDS in my area that services OMS regs. Every year after annual service it seems I always have to take it back, because something is wrong. This year I had to take it back twice. Luckily I have spares. It took over 3 weeks to get my reg fixed.

I might be able to help you learn a bit. If you dive at aquarena regularly, maybe I can have a look at your reg there sometime. I try to volunteer at least once a month and occasionally assist with some OW classes there in the winter.
