My instructor said that nothing is wrong with me diving to 130', he just said that the AOW course would teach me to do dive planning with dive computers.
If your instructor said nothing's wrong with 130' on a basic OW card, your instructor is just plain wrong.
OW certifies you to dive to 60' !
AOW cerifies you to dive to 100' !
Recreational LIMIT is 130'!

This is all ture, I do dive to 130' to 140'. I am no troll, but I was, looking for answers that would make these dives to 140' safer, not people telling me to dive under 60'. I don't mean to offend anybody.

ok so your not trolling..

but now you need to listen....

thers no substute for experence... do some under 60' dives... take a advanced class, get the knowledge.... theres so much you NOT gonna get off the internet.
jumping in like you are in foolish...
one step at a time.....
you probally have enough dives to take the aow calls now...
THAT is how to be a safer diver...
the tern deco diving should also be erased from your vocabulary...
learn how to mange you air.. and nitrox is a good idea... get more no deco time...
and as somone else said. get a pony.....
like i said AOW has a large foucs on dive planning...

Spearfisherman55, I feel sorry for you since at your very young age seems you're doing on purpose some very dangerous activities with the consent of your family.

I really hope you wake up and receive the well given advice here of not to exceed your training and experience.

Diving is a very rewarding experience but can be very dangerous and lead you to illness the rest of your life if not practiced properly.

I've done my share of going beyond my training, but I allways knew when I was doing it and planned for it accordingly and only did it with lots of dives under my belt under the same conditions in a dive site very well known by me.

I took me well over 100 dives to feel that I had the experience to improvise and never ever I put another diver at risk.

Seems clear to me that you're to fresh to know the diference.

Good luck to you and hope you wake up before it's too late.

If you want to make them safer, learn tri-mix, take a deep diving class and a deco diving class, get a set of doubles, a buddy that stays with you and will actually watch out for you and practice with him in shallower water until you 're certain you can handle anything that happens.

At 160' on air, your uncle is guaranteed to be narced out of his mind. I don't know what kind of things he's doing down there, but watching out for you isn't one of them.

Ordinarily you couldn't get more than half the people on this board to agree that fire is hot. Having virtually everybody say that your uncle is going to get you killed should be telling you something.

Why is anyone bothering with this, he clearly isnt listening, hes either going to stay lucky and become one of those nutty divers you stay away from, or end up a statistic, so far hes the former but time is not on his side.

Spearfisherman, my favorite saying for this is , "you dont know what you dont know"

Listen to what is being said or there is a high probability your gonna die

Well said my friend...well said.

You wanted to know how to make dives to 140' safer, and we told you. You didn't like the answer, which was that you CAN NOT safely dive at 140' with your experience. Take it or leave it, but that is the truth.

Gentlemen, we are now officially wasting our time.

I suggest that you also invest in a 2nd hand compressor so that you can dive more often. Often as you like.

Nitrox is NOT a good idea for these types of dives. When someone won't listen to all the good advise he's getting here, What makes you think he'll listen and apply correctly what he learns in a nitrox class?
