I am not into over analysing what I say or don't say.

Some people excel at eliminating risks. I didn't say ALL risks, and I didn't even indicate MOST risks. I try to eliminate any risk that I can identify. If not eliminate, then ameliorate.

The point was not that Joe had eliminated ALL risks, as even typing here provides some risks. Rather that he IDENTIFIED a particular risk for another diver, and then took some decisive action based on that perception.

As a DiveCon (or DiveMaster) it is an essential part of your job to anticipate, identify and deal with those risks in yourself and other divers. Even on a dive forum.

Fortunately, Joe did BOTH of those things. I might point out that he is not even "Rescue Certified" yet. Again, great instincts Joe and an awesome job in being a GREAT dive buddy. Even to someone you have never dove with.

As for "the kid"... until you or I dive with him, we really have no idea of what kind of diver he is. The internet tends to distort attitudes. It's nigh to impossible to tell just what kind of diver ANYBODY is outside of the water.

Except for maybe Joe. I would be his dive buddy anytime!

One last note... it is not uncommon for us (or users like Joe) to contact the "other party" when ever we see something fishy or an accusation is made. There are almost ALWAYS two sides to every story.

I stand corrected on some things. Chalk some of it up to a bad day and some of it to a disagreement that I have with the philosophy that I see with some segments of the dive industry. I have been accused of reading things too simply. But, if I read it that way, so could others! Clarification is never bad on a forum with as many members as we have here.

I talked to Chris at Adventure Quest today, and he is fine with me diving these depths. He said that it would be good to take AOW. He said that in the AOW course he teaches how to breath right, about 3 different types of ways to kick, gas planning, and planning a dive with computers. He said that they do 5 dives, one night dive, one useing navgation dive, and the other two just with the other stuff he taught us. He said that we will be diving to the bottom in 100' of water.

You also claim to live in Metairie, LA.

Kid, you need to get off the internet chatting mostly with adults and go do some diving.

Save your fingers from typing, you have no credibility. Call your parents attention to this thread if you are indeed a diver and wish to continue to dive, or wish to learn.

So I did, Scuba... there are obviously two meanings here, and as DB pointed out, clarification is always best.

You should eliminate ALL risks that are possible to eliminate. Those you can't, you should ameliorate to an acceptable level.
